The Queen of Spades has a reputation of her own. In card lore, she’s often associated with intelligence, independence and mystery. A favorite for people who like their Queen with an edge and this one looks perfectly comfortable with the role. An orange coat, olive scarf and patch covered vest give her more of an outlaw look than a royal one, but either way she's a Queen.
Behind her, a weathered Berkshire Bong Company sign hangs above a hazy skyline of towers and rigging. The worn cream background and black spade markings give the artwork the look of a card that’s spent years in somebody’s coat pocket.
The glaze is a mix of black, army green and olive, with an ancient copper metallic glaze that looks remarkably like actual metal. Copper flows across the shoulder and down the neck, meeting the greens in irregular trails, dark pools and fine speckles. It has that aged-metal look, and the colors fit her coat and scarf beautifully.
